Medical College- Stara Zagora

General information

 

The Medical College „H. Hranova" in Stara Zagora was founded in 1947 as a secondary medical school later transformed into a Medical College. It entered in the Trakia University structure by a Decree of the Council of Ministers 16/27.01.1997.

Since the academic year 2005/2006 the College has new facilities for study with all the necessary conditions for a high quality education in the stated academic programmes. There is a special laboratory equipment study for the academic programme “ Medical laboratory assistant” and a specialized practice study with the necessary equipment for the academic programme “Rehabilitator”.

The college has a big hall for theoretical occupation, celebrations, and promotions.

Тhe training is realized by highly qualified lecturers employed in both the College and the Faculty of Medicine of Trakia University. The practical training takes place at the clinical base in the territory of the town of Stara Zagora . The College owns a library which provides the necessary textbooks and specialized literature for the students.

A student canteen is situated close to the College. The students are provided with a student hostel.

The General meeting of Medical College consists of all the lecturers, representatives of the College stuff and the students.

The College council consists of 9 members, chosen by a secret election of the General meeting.

Rehabilitator-accredited by the Decision of NAOA at the Council of Ministers/ 13.03.2005

 

The rehabilitator is a person who has obtained a higher education, Medical College degree and a diploma for the relevant professional qualification, containing exact hours and credits.

The rehabilitator works in a team with the clinical doctor, remedial therapist and other medical specialists, and carries out obligations stated at the qualification characteristic.

The rehabilitator can find a realization in massaging or physiotherapy, at the specialized clinics and wards, diagnostic and health centers, sanatoriums, kinder gardens and schools, sport centers and the productive practice.

There are 90 students from this major studding in the College for the academic year 2007/2008.

 

Medical laboratory assistant-accredited by the Decision of NAOA at the Council of Ministers/ 13.05.2004

 

The medical laboratory assistant is a person who has obtained a higher education, Medical College degree and a diploma for the relevant professional qualification, containing exact hours and credits.

The medical laboratory assistant is a main performer of a wide range of work in clinical, histological, microbiological, and other laboratories.

During their training the students are studding: Clinical laboratory, Microbiology, Laboratory technique, Histology and Parasitology.

The search for medical laboratory assistants is increasing more and more because of the development in the private sector of the medical services.

There are 46 students from this major studding in the College for the academic year 2007/2008.

The study at the College in the majors above is full-time. The duration of study is 3 years. The study schemes and programmes are consistent with the European Requirements. The graduates obtain “Professional bachelor” educational degree and ”Rehabilitator” and “Medical laboratory assistant” professional qualification.

Now-a day, the need of medical specialists is increasing on national and worldwide level, and this creates conditions for their successful realization.
