Students' Council

Students’ Council (SC) is legal representative of all students and postgraduates as per Article 72 (1) of the Higher Education Act. SC according to HEA and Rules of Trakia University settles (solver all problems) points of it’s structure and administration.

Main activities of SC is to assist tuition teaching of students if TrU for becoming highly skilled specialists and works for the progress of the science and culture by accomplishing projects and programs for the benefit of academic society.
SC pursues a long – term policy, for improving and solving problems concerning students social/living conditions.
SC defend social gains of students before the appropriate bodies in order to guarantee normal life and education. When the common interests are affected. SC has the right to use all legal means to restore the normal life and education of students and postgraduates. Every student and postgraduate in Trakia University has the right to elect and to be elected when establishing SC and management bodies.
When establishing SC no privileges and restrictions concerning age, sex, race, nationality social origin, political views and religion are allowed. This don’t refer to cases explicitly pointed out in the Regulation of the higher school in compliance whit the special features of tuition and future profession.
Members of SC don’t depend on ideologies, religions and political doctrines. Corresponding to universal values and national traditions.
SC consists of the representatives of students and postgraduates in the General Meeting of Trakia University.
The quota of every faculty is suggested from the Rector and approved from the Academic Board.

The Committees carry out activities in the following directions:
Scholarships and Law-administrative Problems
1.Accepting and processing documents / papers of all students applied for scholarship.
2.Defining number / count, kind / sort and deadlines for documents presentation.
3.Defining the amount of the scholarship.
4.Suggestions for prizes / awards and subsidies.
 
Social / Living Problems
1.Examine and works for solving arising matters referring to students’ canteens and hostels.
2.Take part in accepting and processing papers of all students applied for accommodation in students’ hostel.
3.Work together with living Matters Inspector for the allocation of students and accommodating them in students’ hostel.
4.Works on projects for innovations and modernizations in students’ canteens and hostels.
 
Student Affairs
1.With it’s own representatives take part in the supervision / observation of the inner / internal system for assessment and maintenance the quality of tuition and of the academic structure of the higher school.
2.Make proposals to invite external lecturers from the country and abroad.
 
Scientific Research
1.In this Committee work students with interest for progress of the science in the University.
2.Developing conditions for applying with scientific projects.
3.Works in the sphere of innovative process.
4.Organizing symposiums, scientific forums and conferences.
 
Sport
1.Organizing the student’s sport together with the Department of physical education / culture.
2.Speak for / Expressing opinion and make suggestions for the progress of the sport activities before in from of the competent university bodies.
3.Have an opinion on conceding the necessary sport equipment for the students.
4.Organizing football, basketball, volleyball, table tennis, chess, swimming tournaments etc.
 
Culture and PR
1.Organizes the cultural and civil activities with the participation of the students
2.Conduct castings for discoveries talents / findings.
3.Conducts charity campaigns.
4.Organizes an annual Beauty Contest “ Miss and Mr Trakia University”
5.Assists the work of ensemble “TRAKI” and the latin dance group.
 
Commission student international activity
1.A new commission launched in 2009.
2.Collaborates with International Relations Department to Trakia University and supports the international contacts
3.Assists the student exchange, internship abroad and travels on Erasmus program
