Faculty of Medicine

The Faculty of Medicine is founded as Higher Medical Institute for training specialists of Medicine within the framework of the Medical Academy by Resolution of the Council of Ministers of 08.04.1982.

Until 1995 it was an independent higher school, when it joined the Thracian University – Stara Zagora. The academic staff of the Faculty comprises 2 Professors, 31 Associate Professors, 165 Assistant-Professors and lecturers working in 19 Departments.

Since 1982 till the academic 2007/2008 the Faculty has trained 9394 Bulgarian and foreign students (full-time and by correspondence) from 30 countries of Western and Eastern Europe, Africa, Asia and America.
