BULGARIAN LANGUAGE PROGRAM

Academic Year 2012-2013

 

Bulgarian System of Higher Education

 

Bulgarian higher veterinary education is open to all candidates who have a diploma for completed secondary education. It comprises the following two degrees:

Master's degree: after completing a 5.5-year period of study according to the regular curriculum;

Doctoral degree: after completing a 3 -year (full-time) or 4 - year (part-time period of study after the Master's degree.

 

Application Procedure

 

All foreign citizens who have a diploma for completed secondary education are eligible for studying veterinary medicine at the FVM Stara Zagora.

Foreign citizens who apply for doctoral programmes must have a Master's degree in veterinary medicine. Students who have graduated from a foreign higher educational institution can apply for Doctoral programmes provided that their Diploma for completed higher education has been officially recognized and a certificate has been issued in accordance with the State Requirements for Recognition of Diplomas for Completed Higher Education.

The admission to the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine Stara Zagora for citizens of countries members of the EU or who come from areas within the EU economic zone is regulated by the terms and conditions applicable to Bulgarian citizens in accordance with Art. 68, Para. 6 of the Higher Education Act.

Applicants who are citizens of countries members of the EU or who come from areas within the EU economic zone but do not meet the requirements for admission of Art. 68, Para. 6 of the Higher Education Act (i.e. applicants who do not pass admission examinations) pay a tuition fee, established at EUR 3,300 for the 2012/2013 academic year. The same fee is due for the preparatory and language academic year for international applicants.

International applicants must submit a certificate acknowledging that they have successfully taken the Standardised Test in Bulgarian Level B2.

 

Application Documents Required

 

The following documents should be submitted:

 

Master's programme

 

1. A completed application form or a letter of application containing a brief CV and specifying the degree programme which is being applied for. The proficiency of the applicant in Bulgarian or English must be explicitly specified.

2. Foreign citizens applying for the full period of study are required to submit a certified translation of their Diploma for completed secondary education including a supplement specifying their attendance record and grades, accompanied by the full academic record. Foreign citizens applying for a part of the full period of study submit all the the documents described above and/ or an academic record. Foreign citizens applying for a Doctoral programme are required to submit a certified translation of their Master's diploma and/or academic record. They are ranked on the basis of their admission documents, on condition that the grade relevant to the major applied for is not lower than 62% of the maximum grade in accordance with the grading system in the country were the applicant has completed secondary education (i.e. is equivalent to a grade of Good).

3. A document issued by a competent body certifying the applicant's elegibility to continue his studies in higher educational institutions in the country in which the applicant has completed secondary education.

4. All applicants are required to submit a medical certificate issued no earlier than a month before the application procedure, and validated by the respective authorities in the applicant's country.

5. The Diploma and the medical certificate must be legalized, translated into Bulgarian and validated in accordance with the provisions contained in the intergovernmental agreements between the Republic of Bulgaria and the country in which these documents were issued. If no such agreements exist, the documents be legalized, translated and validated according to the standard procedure for the legalization, translation and validation of documents and other official papers.

6. All applicants are required to submit a photocopy of their identity card(s) or passport(s).

7. A photocopy of the identity card with the name legibly written in the Latin alphabet, the place and date of birth.

8. Four recent photographs.

Applicants submit their documents not later than 1 October of the respective academic year for which they are applying. Admission approval is announced by 25 October of the respective academic year. by the institution applied to. The University authorities send the documents of the admitted applicants to the Ministry of Education and Science, so that long-stay visas can be issued. Visa type “D” is issued in accordance with Ordinance on the terms and conditions for visa issuance, endorsed in Decree of the Council of Ministers No 97 of 2002 (published in the Official Gazette issue 49 of 2002).

 

Doctoral programmes

 

1. Application form with a short CV; specified field of study; the topics they intend to work on; their proficiency level in foreign languages, and the scientific organization they are applying to.

2. A certified copy of their Master's degree.

3. A medical certificate issued no earlier than a month before the application procedure, and validated by the respective authorities in the applicant's country.

4. A list of publications, if applicable.

5. All applicants are required to submit a photocopy of their identity card(s) or passport(s). Applicants with dual citizenship should provide photocopies of their Bulgarian identity card or passport.

6. A photocopy of the identity card with the name legibly written in the Latin alphabet, the place and date of birth.

7. A certificate for officially recognized Diploma for completed higher education, if the Diploma has been issued by a foreign higher educational institution.

The documents described in 2 and 3 must be legalized, translated into Bulgarian and validated in accordance with the provisions contained in the intergovernmental agreements between the Republic of Bulgaria and the country in which these documents were issued. If no such agreements exist, the documents be legalized, translated and validated according to the standard procedure for the legalization, translation and validation of documents and other official papers.

Application documents for doctoral programmes can be submitted throughout the whole academic year.

 

Tuition fees

 

Foreign citizens pay tuition fees set by the Council of Ministers on an annual basis.

The tuition fee for full-time Master's degree programme is 3500 EUR.

The tuition fees for Doctoral degree programmes are 5000 EUR (full-time education) or 3000 EUR (part-time) education.

The students can pay the fees in two equal installments at the beginning of each semester. Persons with double citizenship, one of which Bulgarian, pay half of the amount set for foreign citizens, if they have been admitted in accordance with the requirements established for foreign citizens.

 

ENGLISH LANGUAGE PROGRAM
Academic Year 2012-2013

 

General Requirements

 

The Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Trakia University seeks students with working knowledge of English, and strong motivation to study and practice veterinary medicine. Letters of recommendation can also be enclosed. The entrance is according Bulgarian requirements for foreign students.
 

Application Requirements
 

All foreign citizens who have a diploma for completed secondary education are eligible for studying veterinary medicine at the FVM Stara Zagora.

А. For full period of study (five and a half years)

1. A completed application form or a letter of application containing a brief CV and specifying the degree program which is being applied for. The proficiency of the applicant in English must be explicitly specified.
2. Foreign citizens applying for the full period of study are required to submit a certified translation of their Diploma for completed secondary education including a supplement specifying their attendance record and grades, accompanied by the full academic record.
3. A document issued by a competent body certifying the applicant's eligibility to continue his studies in higher educational institutions in the country in which the applicant has completed secondary education.

B. Transfer from other Universities:**

Foreign citizens applying for a part of the full period of study must submit all the documents described above and an academic record (transcript).

If no such agreements exist, the documents have to be legalized, translated and validated according to the standard procedure for the legalization, translation and validation of documents and other official papers.

**For persons graduated or studied in universities in biology, zootechnics, agronomy, medicine etc. Periods of study and exams taken will be recognized in some conditions.

 

Deadlines and Fees

 

Application form and all supporting documents should be presented between April 4th and July 30th 2012.
In case of vacancies further applications are also welcome until mid-September.

The tuition fee is 5000 EUR.
